Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year Award

Every year the Gilder Lehrman Institute sponsors a National History Teacher of the Year Award.  Connecticut also has a statewide winner.  Applicants must be full-time educators in grades K-12, must be teachers of American history, and must have at least three years of classroom experience.  Applicants may be nominated by colleagues, administrators, parents, or students.    The nomination deadline is March 31, 2017.
Statewide winners will receive a $1,000 prize, a certificate of recognition, and archive of books and resources for the winner’s school, and the opportunity to participate in a 2016 Teacher Seminar; the winner’s school will become a Gilder Lehrman Affiliate School.
